Terms of Use
Last updated: October 2026
Welcome to AskFish. These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of AskFish ("we", "us") for using the app. By signing up for or using AskFish, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy.
1. Your account
You must be at least 13 years old to use AskFish; if you are under the age of majority where you live, you need the permission of a parent or guardian. You sign up with a valid email address and are responsible for everything done under your account. Keep your password safe; if someone else uses your account, change your password and contact us right away. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.
2. The service
AskFish offers fishing spots on a map, fishing conditions, AI answers and fish ID, catch logs, the angler community, the fish encyclopedia and the fishing academy. We keep adjusting and improving these features; some need a Tide Pass or spend Tide Amber.
3. AI-generated content
AskFish's answers, fish ID results and spot suggestions are generated by xAI's models. They can be wrong or incomplete, are for reference only, and do not replace official weather warnings, fishing regulations or safety advice. Never decide whether a fish is safe to eat or legal to keep from an AI result alone. Check before you go, and put safety first.
4. Safety and the law
Fishing happens outdoors, with risks such as falling into water, bad weather and slippery banks. Follow local laws and rules, including fishing licenses, closed areas, closed seasons and species and size limits (in the US and Canada, check your state's or province's fishing regulations); do not fish where fishing is banned, on private land or in dangerous places, and do not take protected species. You are responsible for your own outdoor activities.
5. Your content
You keep the rights to the catches, posts, comments, messages and photos you share, and you are responsible for them being lawful. So that we can show them to you and other users, you give us a free, non-exclusive license to store, display and transmit them; the license ends when you delete the content or your account, except where the law requires us to keep it.
6. Community rules: zero tolerance
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Do not post content that is illegal, infringing, sexual, violent, hateful, harassing, fraudulent or spam; do not reveal other people's private information; and do not promote illegal fishing methods such as electrofishing, explosives or poison.
You can report content that breaks these rules and block other users; once blocked, neither of you sees the other's posts and comments, and you can't message each other. We act on reports within 24 hours: we remove content that breaks these rules and suspend or remove the accounts that posted it. Content reported by several people is hidden until reviewed, and content containing banned words can't be posted.
7. Tide Amber and Tide Pass
Tide Amber is a virtual currency used inside AskFish; Tide Pass is an auto-renewing subscription. Both are bought through Apple in-app purchase at the prices the App Store shows in your local currency, which may differ between countries and regions.
A Tide Pass renews automatically and is charged to your Apple Account within 24 hours before the end of each period, unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends in iPhone Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple under its rules.
Tide Amber and Tide Pass benefits can be used only inside AskFish and cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred or given away. Tide Amber does not expire. Except where the law says otherwise, spent Tide Amber is not refunded, and any remaining Tide Amber and benefits end when you delete your account.
8. Intellectual property
The AskFish software, interface, text, illustrations and marks belong to us or their owners. Some encyclopedia photos and data, map data and open-source software come from third parties and are used under their own licenses; see Settings › About › Data sources & licenses.
9. Disclaimers and limits
We work to keep AskFish reliable but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from using or being unable to use AskFish, from relying on AI-generated content, or from outdoor activities.
10. Changes and ending the service
We may change, pause or end features, and will announce significant changes in the app in advance. If you break these terms, we may limit or suspend your account.
11. Apple
If you downloaded AskFish from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/) also applies. These terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple is not responsible for AskFish or its content.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the courts of California, unless the law of the country or region where you live gives you the right to bring them in your local courts or to rely on its consumer protection rules; nothing in these terms limits those rights.
